As the apex ICT agency of Kano State, we drive digital transformation, implement cutting-edge policies, and execute strategic initiatives to propel Kano into a tech-driven future.
Establishment and Mandate
The Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA) was formally established through the enactment of the Kano State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency Law, 2023.
This Law was passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and duly signed into law by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on April 24, 2025.
Implementation Framework:
The Agency is governed by a Board composed of representatives from key ministries and the private sector, with a Director General serving as the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer. The Agency also manages the Kano State Information Technology Development Fund.

Institutional Development and Governance
Establish a legally empowered and technically competent agency. Ensure internal capacity development, transparency, and strategic leadership.
Digital Infrastructure and
Connectivity
Expand broadband penetration and deploy data infrastructure statewide. Introduce smart technologies for cities and public institutions.
Digital Skills and Workforce Development
Promote digital literacy from basic to advanced levels. Set up digital skills academies and training centers in LGAs.
Innovation and Digital Entrepreneurship
Launch innovation hubs, tech parks, and startup incubators. Provide financial and institutional support for innovators and entrepreneurs.
E-Government and Digital Public Services
Digitize government operations and improve service delivery efficiency. Introduce a unified service portal and digitized record systems across MDAs.
Digital Inclusion and Citizen Empowerment
Establish Community Technology Access Centres (CTACs). Promote digital access and equity for women, youth, and underserved populations.
Cybersecurity and Data
Governance
Develop cybersecurity frameworks and state-level data protection regulations. Establish a CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) and promote cyber hygiene.
Strategic Partnerships and Funding Mobilization
Attract private investments and international development partnerships. Promote Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for ICT deployment.
Environmental Sustainability and Green ICT
Support solar-powered ICT centers and e-waste management programs. Develop a green ICT procurement policy.
